Meta Muse

Meta's personal agent. The Mac app, shipped in September 2026, acts inside native macOS applications — files, Messages, Calendar, Notes and mail — with permission.

Muse launched in the US in early September 2026 on mobile and web, and reached the Mac about ten days later. The Mac app is what brings it into this directory: rather than only answering, it organises files, fills in forms and works inside native macOS applications. Access to the machine is opt-in, full disk access is optional, and Meta says destructive steps such as deleting files or sending messages ask for approval first. Tasks carry across devices — start on a phone, pick it up on the laptop.

Best for

Mac users who want an assistant that acts in the applications they already have open, rather than in a hosted copy of the web.

Watch out

Secondary sourcing throughout, and the reporting genuinely conflicts on architecture: some accounts describe Muse driving apps on your Mac, others say the work happens in cloud virtual machines. That is not a detail — it decides whose machine holds your files. Availability is US and Canada and varies by account. A researcher reported that a local process could change an undocumented Muse setting; we found no Meta response.
