ChatGPT Work is shaped around deliverables. It takes an outcome, gathers information across connected apps and workflows, breaks the job into smaller steps and completes them independently, staying with a project for hours before returning finished material — spreadsheets, slides, documents and interactive web apps.
It rolled out to paid plans other than Free and Go, reaching Pro, Pro Lite, Enterprise and Edu first, with Plus and Business following. It shipped in the same period as OpenAI began sunsetting Atlas and consolidating its apps on the desktop.
Whether it belongs in a directory of computer use agents is a genuine question, and for now our answer is no. Work covers research, public browsing, files and document creation; it does not drive a logged-in browser session or hand control back to you mid-task. That is the cloud browser's job. An agent that reads the screen and moves the pointer is the thing this directory tracks, and Work is better described as an orchestrator that happens to browse.
